Dear Democracy

Max Vernon

Do you want experience?
Do you want more of the same?
Do you want some inspiration?
Do you want to finally change?
Well what is change?
How complex...
Check the time on your golden Rolex.
That boat will soon be leaving.
You better board now 'cause hope is fleeting.

You can read between the lines of democracy: it ain't a choice if candidate A and B are both the same.
Well where's our voice?
Too much stress. Don't look now you're developing a complex.
No heroes, only see victims- where's our president? Gone on vacation...

But it don't make a difference... cause we're all ambivalent.
He did what he thought was right- sold us down the river with a Christmas light wrapped round our heads like a noose so we think that it's brighter than ever while the ship capsizes.
What's our hope to survive? We don't solve problems we just multiply like a virus adapting to the medicine, the patient can't defend and can't afford to get a different consultation.

Just do whatever pays the rent I guess. Take one last look while your filet digests. How can you think your crimes are victimless?

I cry out of disbelief. Others pray for eternity. But I already know that i'm going to hell so i'm planning my party. I'm having a party.

Just when you thought it was over, here we go right back to square one
proud and prouder, horse race stun gun weekly media daily devil comes home, but it's not just Washington that's come undone with our division.
Look at our America- the devil is a politician.

Don't just talk about change, if you're gonna throw your vote away.

We did what we thought was right, got sold down the river on our sub-prime pride.
The American dream is now within reach! You can buy what you need at the nearest Wal-Mart.
The rights we have today can be easily taken away cause the powers that be will have their say.
So we won a few fights, didn't mean they went away.

Just do whatever pays the rent I guess. Take one last look while your filet digests. How can you say our crimes are victimless? I cry out of disbelief, others pray for eternity. But I already know that i'm going to hell so I'm having my party.

I'm gonna party like it's 1999 and we're still fine, no horizon line in sight. Your hope for change is just a word on a page I hope someday you can define.
