Broken shells and cigarettes

Shadows on the riverbed

Jumping from the pier into the lake

Sneaking out at night to meet

Behind a bar on Peter Street

Finishing the bottles off

Pretending that we like the taste

And I didn't know that times

Intoxicating lies

Were ever running dry

When I was younger

The last days of summer

Meant we were heading home again

Flood on the back seat

Watching the first leaves

Fall on the concrete

Back again at seventeen

Driver's license, skinny jeans

Stick and poke tattoo high on my thigh

Trying to be offhand
