Somewhere over yonder There's Katie B's Honky Tonk Saloon She's been here since the early 1900's 1993 to be exact Inside those sacred, swinging doors You'll see the best beer-drinking, boot-stomping Nightlife-loving folks this side of anywhere And somehow it's always the same crowd every night We call 'em the regulars You know them well The lovers, heartbreakers The big talkers, unwanted advicers The drinkers, line dancers Barkeepers, the ponderers And the ones that worked way too hard Who are probably gonna go buck wild Dance on the bar and lose their bra-ers
And then there's Katie B She owns the joint and loves it with everything she's got And loves her customers just the same And though she loves her precious, dusty, old honky tonk Katie dreams of something bigger Big city lights, cabarets, rhinestone revues, Broadway shows And maybe even one day having an act of her own A one-woman show
Tonight, you'll find her tucked away in the corner of the bar Like a director behind a curtain Turning the spotlight in her mind to different corners of the room Making the regulars the star of the show In the clouds of her imagination Ordinary moments, conversations, scandals, and characters Become fully-imagined musical acts Making reality melt into some sort of a western vaudeville fantasy
And since you're so curious Why don't you come in and see for yourself? I think it's time to dust off the ol' boots Kick open those saloon doors and say "Hello, honky tonk"
