For Today

Bob Evans

Suburban Kid

I've lived for a high school grades and runinng round a track
I've lived for a hundred girls that have never called me back
I've lived for the stage playing in a rock and roll band
But thats all gonna end someday and I'll have nowhere to stand
I've lived for the future and especially the past
But tomorrow never got here and the memories don't last
So I'm taking all I thought I knew and throwing it away
I'm gonna start living for everything and I'm living for today

I've lived for a party poppin pills to drinking booze
I've lived for every music star country, rock, pop, dance and blues
The partying leaves you empty and the songs they always end
And as much fun as the booze is it makes a pretty shitty friend

I've lived for being myself and lived with being someone else
And though neither one was perfect the first was better for my health
And I'm done caring what people think about the things I say
I'm living for no strangers praise man I'm living for today

Oh, I dont think that its too morbid to say
Oh, We all might die tomorrow come what may
Like I shoulda loved the day my dear dad passed away
Your living for everything when your living for today
So forget all that other stuff and start living for today

Dodedah..
Dodedah..

I must have lived for more things than there are names to call
But right now I'm just living for a soft spot to fall
You see I'm tired but I'm happy cause thats what living for today can do
But it sure has been easy since I've been living every day with you
Yeah it sure has been easy since I've been living every day with you
Yeah
